Expanding Ynni Ogwen Cyf's existing community solar scheme

Ynni Ogwen Cyf

Ynni Ogwen Cyf would like to expand their existing community solar scheme, which provides clean electricity to community owned buildings. The funding will finally allow them to install PV’s and a battery to assist with the site becoming even more self-sufficient.

Words from the winner: "We are extremely proud to have been considered eligible for this award from Younity and are pleased to say that this will be used to help realise our commitment to renewable energy and sustainability within our community.

Specifically, the award will allow us to expand our existing community solar scheme by including PV panels, combined with battery storage, on one of the old Victorian-era school buildings in the town, which we are developing into a sustainability centre. This centre will include business units, bunkhouses as well as the location for the local food bank. EV charge points are to be provided to address the need for sustainable tourism, to include an electric shuttle bus to connect with the National Park nearby."
